Kohl’s going solar
Seeking to increase their current renewable energy output, Kohl’s Department Stores has announced plans to install solar panels on more than two dozen stores.
Kohl’s first step into solar energy generation began in 2007 when one of its California locations had panels mounted on its roof.
Now one of the leading department store chains is expanding their use of solar energy in Northeastern US including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Ohio.
Between 20 and 50 percent of the store’s electricity is produced through these solar panels, allowing Kohl’s to provide a significant amount of its in-store energy demand on-site.
By 2013 Kohl’s expects to generate over 70 million kilowatt-hours of electricity across 150 locations each year.
