Green Assets attending California carbon conference

This week several members of the Green Assets team will travel to California to attend the Navigating the American Carbon World (NACW) conference.

The annual event brings together carbon leaders from a range of fields including industry, finance, policy, research, and conservation organizations.

President Hunter Parks, General Counsel Gardner Altman, and CEO Jim Bingham are attending the conference in San Francisco where they will have the chance to meet with a variety of carbon representatives.

California Air Resources Board Chair Mary Nichols will be presenting, as well as a number of major carbon project registries including the Climate Action Reserve, the American Carbon Registry, and the Verified Carbon Standard. These groups are responsible for ensuring the validity of carbon offset projects.

Regulated businesses that will be looking to purchase carbon offsets, such as Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, and the Sacramento Municipal Utilities Department, will take part as well.

Other institutions that will be attending the conference include the Duke University Nicholas Institute and the National Wildlife Federation.

Representatives from Quebec, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil will also take part, highlighting the international importance of climate change.

NACW 2013 will undoubtedly provide the Green Assets team with invaluable insight that we can use to better serve our landowners.
