Green Assets is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a GIS Technician. Founded in 2010, Green Assets is a fast-growing, leading forest carbon offset development firm. We provide informed, turn-key project development services that enable profitable conservation while maintaining natural habitats and ecosystems.

This role sits at the intersection of GIS, land/parcel intelligence, and forestry, supporting both technical project execution and landowner identification and feasibility analysis.

Position Overview

The GIS Technician supports the Lead GIS & Data Analyst in executing GIS analysis, spatial data management, routine workflows, and mapping across carbon project development, verification, and monitoring workflows. This role is execution-focused, working under established SOPs to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across the organization.

A key component of this role is the development of clear, accurate, and professional-quality cartographic outputs that effectively communicate complex spatial information to internal teams, clients, and third-party stakeholders.

In addition to core GIS responsibilities, this position plays a key role in supporting the Business Development team, working with parcel data, land datasets, and real estate-related GIS information.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver, detail-oriented and technically capable individual who is interested in applying GIS within a forest conservation industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support GIS workflows across project development, verification, and monitoring phases
  • Perform a variety of spatial analyses, data preparation, and data management to maintain high-quality datasets
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and deliver high-quality products under tight deadline
  • Process and analyze parcel data, land ownership records, and related datasets to support landowner identification and feasibility workflows
  • Assist in aggregating and standardizing property-level data for Business Development and project scoping
  • Produce clear, accurate, and professional-quality maps and spatial visualizations
  • Support project monitoring using remote sensing data and GIS tools
  • Prepare spatial outputs for internal reporting and external deliverables
  • Assist in evaluating potential projects through GIS-based analysis and data compilation
  • Execute established workflows and support implementation of GIS tools and systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support GIS and data-related needs

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency with ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro)
  • Strong cartographic skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of spatial statistics

 

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency with ESRI’s Cloud Suite (AGOL)
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and version control (GIT)
  • Familiarity with multispectral imagery and LiDAR data
  • Experience working with parcel data, land ownership datasets, or real estate GIS workflows
  • Familiarity with land evaluation, boundary analysis, and GIS related legal descriptions.
  • Ability to document workflows, methodologies, and SOPs
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in GIS or a related field (Geography, Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resources, Geology, etc.)
  • 0–4 years of GIS or spatial analysis experience
