Voters support climate change candidates
In the upcoming midterm elections this November 2 the races for nearly a quarter of the 435 House of Representatives seats are neck and neck.
Many candidates were concerned that by supporting the Waxman-Markey bill which seeks to implement an emissions trading scheme, they would not be reelected.
However polls administered by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Action Fund show that a majority of voters in 21 of 23 states polled actually support a climate bill including a cap on carbon emissions and the creation of new clean energy jobs.
Republicans have stated that if they take control of the House they will oppose the cap-and-trade system suggested in the Waxman-Markey bill.
