Jan. 21, 2011CCS projects want in on California market

The Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Review Panel has petitioned the California Air Resources Board (Carb) to include CCS projects in their list of approved protocols for the state’s future cap-and-trade law.

A report to Carb highlighted improved measurement and verification methodologies.

Currently only four Climate Action Reserve (CAR) methodologies are approved for the state’s market, but Carb Chair Mary Nichols did not confirm a CCS protocol would be included.

CCS projects are also seeking inclusion in the United Nation’s clean development mechanism (CDM).
