Obama pushes for clean energy
To continue sustaining the US’s pursuit of clean energy technologies, President Obama is gathering support to extend tax credits that reward companies for improving their energy efficiency.
President Obama spoke at an Iowa wind generation facility to relate the successes of the Production Tax Credit (PTC), which has helped the US nearly double its wind and solar electricity output since 2009.
According to White House officials, failing to renew the bill will severely limit growth in the clean energy sector, and could result in the loss of tens of thousands of jobs.
Although there has been bi-partisan support for the PTC in the past due to its positive impact on American job creation, this may become a divisive issue since it is a presidential election year.
Regardless of the political climate, the financial opportunities in clean energy technologies have large financial firms such as Goldman Sachs eager to engage in this emerging market.
