California carbon market expects Quebec link this year

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will submit plans to link the state’s carbon market with a similar system in Quebec to Governor Jerry Brown, perhaps as early as this February.

ARB officials expect Governor Brown to approve the market link ahead of their board meeting next month.

However, the market’s would not officially be linked until August, when Quebec authorities hope to participate in California’s carbon allowance auction.

Quebec is expected to buy a net purchaser of carbon offset credits, which will increase demand domestically in California.
