Volkswagen opens massive Tennessee solar farm
Volkswagen (VW) has announced the launch of an expansive solar farm that will supply clean energy to one of its manufacturing plants in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The solar farm sprawls over 30 acres and is projected to supply a significant amount of electricity, roughly 9.5 megawatts (MW).
This renewable energy source will generate almost 13% of the factory’s electric demand during full production. When the VW plant, which manufactures the popular VW Passat, is not in full-production mode, 100% of its energy needs will be generated by the solar farm.
The Tennessee facility represents VW’s largest solar farm to date.
