Apple completes huge solar project in NC
Technology giant Apple Inc. has completed an expansive solar project to power one of its data centers located in Maiden, NC.
Solar panels were installed on over 100-acres to provide electricity to the 500,000 square foot, $1 billion facility.
With the completion of this project, all of Apple’s data centers are now run from clean energy sources, according to the company’s Environmental Progress report.
Apple has an internal goal to power all of their operations, including its corporate facilities, from renewable sources like solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal projects.
Even Apple’s products have embraced efficiency, with new Macbooks and iPads being built less materials, yet still offering improved capabilities.
