New York state thinking green

In its latest move to address the issue of climate change, New York state is creating a fund for renewable energy programs.

 

Governor Andrew Cuomo set a goal to fund $1 billion in capital for various initiatives that will decrease the state’s overall emissions.

 

The announcement comes in advance of federal coal-fired power plant emission standards that will be released in the near future by the Environmental Protection Agency.

 

After suffering through the Hurricane Sandy disaster last year, New York made the issue of climate change a top priority.

 

The state has already made a push to increase its clean energy generation and the new $1 billion green fund will spur further investment to improve the efficiency of the electri

 

Although no one storm can be tied directly to climate change, should sea levels rise even just a few feet, all of New York City would be flooded once again, this time permanently.
